How Slippery is Your Roof?
There are many details when planning for large commercial, industrial, or government rooftop solar installations. Have you ever done a roof membrane friction test? Here you see John from Lightbox and a couple of design engineers testing the friction of a school roof that is part of the District of Columbia's rooftop solar program.
Friction testing allows the design engineers to understand the friction provided by the current roof surface so they can design the proper amount of ballast (weight) to keep the solar system on the roof and where it's supposed to be.
